Final Cut Studio 2 Review

March 26, 2008

A few weeks back I got Final Cut studio 2 for my editing work and am truly amazed at it. Final Cut Pro is my main tool for editing and cutting out large chunks of video what isn’t needed. DVD Studio Pro I use sometimes to burn projects to a DVD as it looks more professional that iDVD. Motion I never really use but it looks like it has impressive transitions. Soundtrack Pro is pretty good to edit and enhance sounds. Shake 4 am in the process of learning it, its for visual affects. Here is a Final cut studio 2 NAB Reel from 2007

Mac OS X Panther and iLife 04 overview

March 26, 2008

Many of you may say this is a bit late to review an operating system what is 5 years old, but recently I installed Mac OS X Panther on my Graphite 400Mhz PowerMac g4 which has 512MB of RAM and it runs amazingly well. Panther in its day was an evolution of the species, its amazing. Along with Panther I bought Apple’s iLife 04 suite which came fully boxed and includes the first ever version of Garageband. iLife 04 seems to run amazingly well on an 8 year old mac, even iDVD what says it needs a 733Mhz G4 runs fine on a 400Mhz G4. Over all I’m very impressed .           macosxpanther_box1.jpgref_ilife04_box2.jpg

My Aperture 2.0 Review

March 26, 2008

On 13th of February 2008 Apple released its 3rd version of the Aperture photo editing software application. Aperture was introduced at Macworld 2005, in front of an amazed audience as Steve Jobs also announced that day the switch from PowerPC chips to intel core processors within a years time. Aperture has been fully universal since version 1.5 and in my opinion is much better than Adobe lightroom. Aperture loads in commands faster than lightroom and the GUI looks more appealing. In all 100+ features have been added to Aperture 2.0 full features can be found here http://www.apple.com/aperture/features/100.htmaperture_125_080205.jpg

Mac OS X 10.5.3 supposedly around the corner

March 26, 2008

Mac OS X Leopard 10.5.3 could be arriving within a few months to add even more bug fixes. In one post on a 3rd party website someone called Apple up about a Macbook Pro problem he had an Apple rep then told him a update for the system will be coming out very soon. There is no way of knowing if the Apple rep meant, days, weeks or months, but in my opinion will be a while before we see the update as there isn’t any reports of a developer seed.
